Accountant, EMBO Administration & Finance (m/f/d)
The financial Accountant enthusiastically provides professional accounting and bookkeeping services for all areas of EMBO. The Accountant actively contributes to all financial transactions (verification, documentation, accounting, controlling and reporting) of the organization. the Accountant enjoys collaborating with colleagues from other departments and communicates with scientists and institutions from all over the word. The Accountant is expected to take an active part in ensuring completeness, accuracy and conformity and to prioritise in times of parallel requests. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited, to the following: Verification and posting of incoming invoices; General accounting tasks; Reconciliation of the EMBO accounts; Administration and supervision of open items for accounts payable and accounts receivable; Master data maintenance (accounting system and FileMaker); Collaboration in the annual closing process; Support of and backup for the Administration & Finance team members; Perform additional tasks as required by the Head of Administration & Finance. General support: Implementation and administration of an (electronic) invoice release workflow; Control and payment processing of in- and external travellers reimbursements; Credit card processing; Preparation of payment runs; Budget monitoring.
Vocational training with a focus on accounting, ideally as a certified accountant; Experience using accounting software, ideally DATEV or Lexware; Fluency in English; good working knowledge of German; A self-motivated, helpful personality and interest in providing a professional service by adding value to the Administration & Finance team and EMBO; Excellent written and oral communication skills. An understanding of or interest in learning accounting principles of the German Commercial Code (HGB) and the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR); Experience in taxation-related matters.
